When the ring isn't obvious enough...
So, I am working this morning... Which I usually have off but will be taking tomorrow off instead. But I open the door to my office to find a little card with my name on it. Hmm... Interesting. So, I do the first of my usual duties and then come back to my desk, open the card to find on the cover a little boy and girl on tricycles kissing, open it enough to see that it is not from my husband (temperature rising rapidly). Close it and then continue to do some more of my daily tasks until a break allows me time to read all that's enclosed as there were words covering the entire inside of the card.
Very complimentary, the word "stunning" was used and I don't know if I've ever been called that before. And an invitation to dinner if I was not married. But indeed I am. This person has worked in the building next door for the whole time I've been here and we've had a couple quick chats but I didn't see this coming. It was very nice, an interesting way to start the week. Hopefully my response and declination won't embarrass him. As I nicely thanked him and told him that in fact, I was married but appreciated the card.
So, that makes my list of compliments over the last month: Stunning, pretty, mysterious, and "weird (in a good way)" plus the husband's usual "you're cute!". Yeah, I can get by on these for a while... like the whole rest of the year. These type of things stick with me. Now I'm awaiting the awkward moments to come when we have to interact. Oh boy!
