What!?! I can not just have one!
Once upon a time in Jr high or so, I thought it was cool to have two boyfriends at one time (they both knew about eachother and were friends and it worked just fine until one started liking another girl, then I only had one). A year or so into my marraige I thought I needed a pet, but when I went to pick it up there were two pure black absolutely adorable kittens who were brothers and so I got two. A couple years later a dog was what would complete the family but no, not one, I got two. And then a few months after that ummm... being the kind that takes in strays: two more cats. So when it came to the whole foster kid thing, could I just do one? Absolutely not! There were two boys in the home that were needing a good home. So, we took both 16 year old boys. Did I think I loved the first? yup and do I adore the second? yes, of course. But what am I thinking? They are 16!!!! And now what do I have to pay tons of attention to? Whether or not things and behaviors are appropriate.
The boys had a big equestrian meet this weekend (the whole damn weekend!) and Jacob came up behind me and gave me a huge bear hug. Later on one of his friends asked him who is cute new girlfriend was? How embarrassing when he answered "my mom!"
Yes, what weird things I have to be watchful of. Just what I need is to hear that people think I have two new young boyfriends or that our kid/parent relationships are inappropriate. The world we live in! How do you tell kids that have never had the normal family/friend hugging, squeezing, love and affection that you think they deserve it and you love them and want to hug them but it would look bad in public?
Grrrrrrr!!!!! Oh well, I'd say "screw it, to hell with what people think" but I still want to protect them from that possibility. What can you do?
Ok that's what's up with me right now. Two 16yr old for the last month and a half, highschool girlfriend drama, equestrian stuff, and general spending all my time and energy at work and on my new family. Dan is amazing with the boys and is pretty much the stay at home Dad making sure they get to all their sporting events, cooking dinner and taking care of house and home. I am pretty blessed! And now I have 3 guys I love! But it is weird when they call me mom... I would have been 12 when I concieved. Yikes and yuck!
Have a great week!
